If you haven't heard about the protests that have been taking place over in Brazil, then we're about to bring you up to speed. Here are 6 things you need to know about the demonstrations going on in Brazil:

1. The protests have been occurring over the past two weeks and these have been some of the biggest protests since the end of Brazil's 1964-1985 dictatorship. The protests were organized mostly by snowballing social media campaigns.

Well, this is surely disappointing, chicas. Texas Gov. Rick Perry has decided to veto $1.5 million in funding that would have expanded the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas.

According to the Huffington Post, the veto dashed hopes for those who want to develop  the center into a full-fledged academic department.
