A bi-annual federal survey just released by the Center for Disease Control reveals that Hispanic high school students use drugs and attempt suicide at higher rates than black and white students. Furthermore, while rates of sexual activity are on the decline for black and white students, there is no decline for Hispanic students.

“It’s disheartening that we aren’t seeing progress among Hispanic teens for certain risk factors,” said Howell Wechsler, the director of the CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health.

The historic battle for the Democratic primary presidential election came to an end last night with Senator Barack Obama amassing the necessary 2,118 delegates needed to become to presumptive Democratic presidential candidate. This democratic primary broke many records with regards to the number of voters who participated, the amount of money raised and spent and the length of the fight. Obama celebrated by addressing a jubilant crowd of 17,000 supporters in the same Minnesota stadium that will host the Republican Convention in the fall.
