It's a good day for catcher Yadier Molina, who accepted a 5-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals for $75 million. The deal keeps him on the team through 2017, and he has a chance to get even more out of it with a mutual, $15 million option for 2018. This is also good news for the Cardinals, who recently lost Albert Pujols to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

With this deal, 29-year-old Molina has become the second-highest paid catcher in Major League Baseball, just behind Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins. The stats show that he deserves it: he's won the Gold Glove four times, a Platinum Glove voted by fans last season, a great batting average, and an average of over 100 games played in the last three seasons. He first signed his contract with the Cardinals back in 2000 and it seems it was a great decision on both sides.

What do you think of Molina's contract with St. Louis?
