70 Percent of Latino Seniors Live on Verge of Poverty

A majority of Latino seniors live on the verge of poverty. By majority, we mean 70 percent. According to Fox News Latino, the heartbreaking percentage was revealed in a new report by the Economic Policy Institute.

According to the report, Latino seniors are considered the most economically vulnerable elderly Americans in the United States.

Behind Latinos are African-Americans in highest number of economically vulnerable senior citizens with 64 percent. Whites follow African-Americans with 44 percent.

The report also estimates about 20 million of the country’s 41 million seniors as having an income that is less than two times the supplemental poverty threshold established by the U.S. Census Bureau.
