Legislators Vow to Protect Children Being Targeted by Sex Traffickers

“I think a lot of international victims are lured into the U.S. under false pretenses,” said Dr. Robert Sanborn, president and CEO of Children at Risk told NBC Latino. “Children searching for economic progress are tricked into sexual trafficking.”

And he says that while some cartels do participate in the crime, many perpetrators belong to small human trafficking rings.

He also went on to say the specific bill recently introduced by Representative Royal-Allard is a step in the right direction but doesn’t address the major issue at hand: the booming business of sex trafficking because of the United States demand for prostitution.
