A Montana district court judge is being petitioned against for handing down a controversially short sentence to a former Senior High teacher convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl.

According to The Huffington Post, Judge G. Todd Baugh is being accused of "victim shaming... [and] increasing the possibility that more child predators, relying on the laxity of a judge who more readily sympathizes with the abuser than the abused, will prey on other children in the future."

Earlier this week, the judge sentenced 49-year-old Stacey Rambold to 30 days for the 2008 rape of student Cherice Morales.

The Huffington Post reports that Judge Baugh defended his sentencing decision by arguing that Morales was "older than her chronological age" and was "as much in control of the situation" as her rapist.
