After she was found guilty in a Phoenix courtroom, Arias said she just went blank.
“I don’t know, I just feel overwhelmed,” Arias said. “I think I just need to take it a day at a time.”
She maintained that there was no premeditation on her part to the grisly 2008 murder, in which Arias was accused of stabbing Alexander many times in his home, shooting him in the head, and slashing his throat from ear to ear in a rage.
"I can see how things looked that way," Arias said, with regards to thoughts she premeditated Alexander's murder.
A camera was later found in Alexander’s washing machine and, in it, photos of him in the shower before the murder. There is also an intimate sex tape of both Alexander and Arias, and a photo of Arias dragging Alexander’s dead body across the floor.
Arias, who had met Alexander at a convention in Las Vegas, told authorities after she was arrested in July 2008 that she did not hurt her former lover.
“I would never hurt Travis. I would be shaking in my boots right now if I had to answer to God for such a heinous crime,” she said in one video.
Arias would later switch her story to one of self-defense. Throughout the trial, Arias’ lawyers argued that Alexander had been abusive towards her.
What do you think of Arias’ statement that she would prefer death to life behind bars?
