Jodi Arias Says She Prefers Death Sentence Over Life In Prison

Shortly after Jodi Arias was found guilty of first-degree murder for the killing of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander on Wednesday, she spoke out about the verdict, stating that she’d prefer a death sentence.

The seemingly quiet 32-year-old gave an exclusive interview with My FOX Phoenix about twenty minutes after her verdict was read.

“The worst outcome for me would be natural life,” Arias told reporter Troy Hayden. “I would rather die much sooner than later. Longevity runs in the family, and I don’t want to spend the rest of my natural life in one place.”

“I’m pretty healthy. I don’t smoke,” she added. “And I will probably live a long time, so that's not something I'm looking forward to.... I believe death is the ultimate freedom."

As for how she felt about the jury who decided her fate yesterday, Arias had this to say: “I know that I pray constantly for every single one of them, so that’s the jury that was brought to me, and that’s the jury that I was meant to have.”

CNN reports that those who would decide Arias’ fate deliberated for 15 hours and five minutes before they reached their decision. The widely followed case had been in court since January 2 and wrought with twists and turns, including lies and very graphic images. Jurors heard closing arguments last Friday.
