
Gymnast Jorge Valdés’ Miraculous Recovery After Spinal Cord Injury

A spinal cord injury can have irreversible consequences, including the possibility of becoming a quadriplegic. That seemed to be the case for Jorge Valdés, a young gymnast who suffered a devastating fall that threatened to paralyze him.
But an experimental treatment administered by only a handful of hospitals — including the University of Miami hospital — gave Jorge a chance to bounce back to life.
