The "Curb Your Enthusiasm" creator took up an offer by political action committee (PAC) Deport Racism, which announced last week that it would give the "bounty" to any SNL audience member who interrupted the live show by calling the Republican presidential hopeful out on his anti-Latino racism.
"NBC’s refusal to drop Trump has put us in the position of dropping $5,000 of cold hard cash to anyone who will yell out 'Trump is a racist' during the live broadcast of 'Saturday Night Live,'" Santiago Cejudo, an organizer for the PAC, said on Wednesday.
Funny man David, who likely doesn’t need the dinero, followed through on Saturday.
"You're a racist," he yelled while Trump wrapped up his opening monologue.
Trump, vexed, replied: "Larry, what are you doing?"
"I heard if I yelled that, they'd give me $5,000. … I had to do it," David responded.
"As a businessman," Trump said, "I can fully respect that."
While the outburst was scripted, and not so convincing, Deport Racism said they would pay up.
"Larry David drew attention and highlighted a serious situation," said campaign director Luke Montgomery. "Donald Trump is a racist who is attacking U.S.-born children using the word ‘anchor babies’ and wanting to strip them of their constitutional rights because their parents are Latino … It’s disgusting and offensive."
