Court documents released on Tuesday show that George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who shot and killed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin, had five guns and more than 100 rounds of ammo on him when police officers arrested him earlier this month on domestic violence charges.
Zimmerman was arrested on Nov. 18 at the house of his then girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, which they were sharing. The couple was arguing, and Scheibe told deputies that Zimmerman pointed a shotgun at her, also smashing her coffee table with the weapon. According to a search warrant that was made public by the Seminole County court clerk, when he was arrested he had a 12-gauge shotgun, an AR-15 assault rifle and three handguns on him.
Scheibe told deputies she asked Zimmerman to leave the house. She said in an arrest report that he began packing his belongings, including some of the weapons, but became upset and took the shotgun out of the case.
