Five people are dead and several others are injured after a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday.

According to reports, the suspect, who has been identified as Esteban Santiago, is in custody. The gunman was carrying a military ID, though it's still unclear if it belonged to him. Officials have cleared the terminal around gates D4 and D5, located at the northside of the airport. The shooting took place in the lower level baggage claim area in Terminal 2 a little before 1 p.m.

While it’s been reported that as many as eight people are hurt from the shooting, there are no details on their injuries.

The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is among the busiest in the country, ranking 21st according to its website.
