Fidel Castro's Son Commits Suicide After Battling Depression

The eldest son of late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz – Balart, took his own life on Thursday morning at the age of 68, according to reports.

Popularly known as "Fidelito" or Little Fidel" because of his resemblence to his father had been seeking treatment for depression by a group of medical doctors. As part of his treatment, the nuclear physicist had been admitted to a hospital for profound depression. He later had been released from care after several months and continued his treatment outside the hospital when he died. 

At the time of his death he served as Scientific Advisor to the Council of State and Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.

No other details of his suicide were given by Cuba media reports, they informed that his funeral will be organized by his family.
