English-Speaker Sues College Over Spanish Use in Classroom

Back in March, the nursing student told authorities within Pima Community College that she wanted Spanish banned from the classroom, but the Spanish speaking continued, according to her complaint. Bennett also raised her gripe with David Kutzler, who directs the school’s Nursing program. In response, Kutzler called Bennett a “bigot and a b****” and accused her of discriminating against Mexican Americans.

After meeting with Kutzler again (and also with another administrator), Bennett alleges that a security officer informed her that she was suspended from Pima Community College.

“Ms. Bennett felt humiliated, shamed and afraid,” the complaint read.

What are your thoughts on this lawsuit? Do you think Bennett is right to sue her former college?
