Day Two in the Trayvon Martin Murder Trial: What's the Latest?

The Huffington Post reports that the latest in the trial is that defense attorneys are allowed to use statements the neighborhood watch volunteer made to a police officer and neighbor immediately after he fatally shot Martin. Zimmerman told the officer and neighbor that he was yelling for help but nobody responded during his confrontation with Martin.

According to Fox News, the jury was shown the gun that killed Martin during today's court session. Jurors were also shown a can of Arizona Iced Tea and a bag of Skittles, the items Martin bought at a convenience store on the night he was killed.

The prosecution also shared photographs taken of Zimmerman after the shooting that appeared to show him with a bloody nose, blood dripping behind his ear and lumps and a cut on the back of his head.
