What an honor!
Orange is the New Black star, Dascha Polanco received a wonderful honor yesterday from New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio when he proclaimed August 8, 2017 as Dascha Polanco Day in the Big Apple. The Dominican actress received the award at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's offical residence, during a Dominican Heritage celebration.
The Brooklyn Native took to Instagram to post a video of the accolade, saying: "Today was an honor to have the Mayor of NYC & the First Lady celebrate my culture. It was a moment to embrace, they honored me today with a proclamation that today 8/8/2017 is DASCHA POLANCO DAY in the City of NY. I'm proud to be a Dominican raised in Brooklyn. #selflovery #ismellgood."
The celebration comes just in time for the annual Dominican Day Parade on Sunday, August 13th at 12 p.m. on 6th Ave. (between 36th and 52nd streets) in New York City.
