There are currently at least 22 states with laws similar to that in Florida. According to Fox News Latino, many of these states are conservative and often lean towards laws that defend gun owners.

"The debate about stand-your-ground laws largely reproduces existing divisions in American politics, particularly between blacks and whites and between Democrats and Republicans," said John Sides, an associate professor of political science at George Washington University.

Earlier this year, New Hampshire lawmakers considered repealing the state's stand-your-ground law which would make it the only state presently enacting the law and seeking to do away with it.
