If you haven't heard about the protests that have been taking place over in Brazil, then we're about to bring you up to speed. Here are 6 things you need to know about the demonstrations going on in Brazil:
1. The protests have been occurring over the past two weeks and these have been some of the biggest protests since the end of Brazil's 1964-1985 dictatorship. The protests were organized mostly by snowballing social media campaigns.
2. It all started when Brazilians became angry over high taxes, corruption, and lavish spending on the upcoming World Cup soccer tournament, along with other numerous complaints. The demonstrations have spread across the country like wildfire.
3. Anger at an increase in public transport fares in Porto Alegre and other cities also helped sparked the protest movement, which grew rapidly after police violently clashed with demonstrators in Sao Paulo last week.
