What initially appeared to be a suicide by Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro last month, may have actually been a complete accident.
People reports that it seems Castro died from auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide.
A report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction revealed that the 53-year-old kidnapper was found with his pants and underwear pulled down leading them to consider the possibility that he was trying to achieve sexual satisfaction by briefly choking himself into unconsciousness.
There was "no evidence of serious mental illness or indications for suicide precautions were present," according to the report obtained by People.
The report also stated that two prison guards, who were supposed to be keeping an eye on Castro, lied about their documented observations and did not conduct at least eight required checks on Castro the day of his death.
Castro had just begun his life sentence before he was found hanging in his cell.
