Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez Forced To Take Month Off After Brain Injury

A subdural hematoma occurs when the veins under the membrane of the brain break and bleed out. In a "chronic" case, such a Fernandez's, blood leaks slowly over time.

The spokesman did not address whether or not Fernandez will keep managing the country herself, or formally take leave and hand the government to Vice President Amado Boudou

Midterm elections on Oct. 27 will decide whether the ruling Front for Victory party holds onto enough congressional seats to enable Fernandez to rule with virtually unchecked power. The injury, however, will prevent the President from campaigning.
