Aerosmith Praises Uruguayan President For Work With Poor, Weed Legalization

According to Joaquín Constanzo from Uruguay’s presidential press office, the president has donated more than $300,000 (USD) to the program Plan Juntos, or Plan Together. The program provides free homes to the country’s poor, primarily households with a single mother.

Tyler found a lot of similarities between himself and the Latin American president. “Your president is a freedom fighter, and in many ways we fight for freedom ourselves with music,” he said.

In addition to Mujica's work with the impoverished, he's also been a vocal supporter of marijuana legalization. The country’s lower house passed a marijuana legalization bill in late July, and Uruguay could become one of the first nations to legalize the drug.
