Eight people have been hospitalized and one suspect is dead after an active shooter situation at Ohio State University Monday morning.
According to Columbus Fire Department, seven people are stable and one is in critical condition.
The school tweeted that students should "run hide fight" after officials learned of the active shooter near Watts Hall located on 19th Avenue and College Road North. The signal “Run, hide, fight” is standard protocol for active shooter situations. It means that people should run, or evacuate if possible, hide, try to quietly get out of view, or as a last resort, fight the shooter.
Officers are asking people to avoid the scene and are telling students to continue taking shelter. Columbus SWAT has been called to the scene.
