MORE: Aaron Hernandez Found Guilty of First Degree Murder

DJ Hernandez opened up to Sports Illustrated's Michael Rosenberg about what it's been like to be related to a convicted murderer and having to visit his brother in jail. The former NFL star was found guilty of taking part in the murder of his former friend, Odin Lloyd in June 2013.

Back in 2013, D.J. was attending the University of Iowa and aspiring to be a huge college football coach but that dissipated after his brother was found guilty. He changed his name to Jonathan and became a roofer in Texas. Jonathan goes to visit Aaron once in a while at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts. He described one of the meetings to Rosenberg:

Jonathan revealed that he always felt that Aaron was hanging out with the wrong crowd especially after their father, Dennis, passed away in 2006.

"I saw a kid who was devastated," Jonathan said. "I think he was confused. He was lost. He cried, but [only] at moments. Crying is not always the answer, but being an emotional family, for him to put up a wall during the services…it was shocking to me. He was holding everything in."
