Bad news for Aaron Hernandez. The 23-year-old football tight end was arrested this morning after an acquaintance was recently found dead near his house, according to ESPN. The New England Patriots have also released him from the team.
On Twitter earlier today, Sports Center wrote that the Puerto Rican athlete was escorted from his Massachusetts home in handcuffs by two police officers. Sports Center also wrote that the Massachusetts State Police said charges against Hernandez will not be released to public until presented to the court. He’s set to be arraigned today.
Hernandez has been at the center of an investigation involving the shooting death of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Lloyd had been hanging out with Hernandez and two other people hours before he was killed last week; his body was found in an industrial park.
According to ESPN, an arrest warrant was prepared after police discovered that the security system at Hernandez's home, as well as his cell phone, were destroyed.
