In the wake of a disaster, there are always a brave few that step-up. In the three years since the tragic events of Hurricane Katrina, Latino day-laborers have helped to rebuild the Big Easy. Many local residents thank these workers for their contributions in reconstructing New Orleans when no one else would, and admire them for the promising futures they have managed to carve out for themselves. Others are not so willing to accept this new population as full-time neighbors. As the immigration battle rages on, Latino’s in New Orleans continue to organize and build their community.
