"Rape Trees" Found Along Southern US Border

The violence in Mexico is out of control and undeniably headed north. From beheadings to kidnappings, there seems to be no limit to what the cartels are willing to do to assert their dominance. They deal not only in drugs, but also in humans. The majority of the coyotes who help illegal immigrants cross the border are affiliated with these Mexican cartels.

Although many politicians would like to believe that the violence will stay to the south of the border, the reality is that it has already begun to affect South Western states. The revelation that Phoenix is now the "kidnapping capital" of the United States only affirms what many residents already knew.

A new method of marking territory has crossed over into the United States. "Rape trees" are popping up in Southern Arizona and their significance is horrific and disgusting. These "rape trees" are places where cartel members and coyotes rape female border crossers and hang their clothes, specifically undergarments, to mark their conquest and territory.

Sen. Jonathan Paton (R-Tucson), recently invited officials to describe the problems being faced in his home state to the Senate Judiciary Committee, which he chairs. Paton said violence along the border has escalated dramatically in the past year, "We want to go after these crimes," he insisted, "It’s an unbelievable situation, and we can’t allow that to go on in this country."

it sad to see that latina women are just swept under the table. i wish people would wake up and see whats happening- its people like this that give nuestra raza a bad name- we are not all about drugs as these people are- we will be praying for the lost women and their families,

This is crazy and inhuman. War on drugs or rather war to win drug turfs has impacted Southern California quite a bit especially San Diego singles. Female border crossers may be illegally entering the country, but they do not deserve to be raped!

All potential immigrants should stay in Mexico and fix their country and it's internal problems instead of dragging all that nonsense here. Can anyone here imagine an American going down to Mexico and perpetrating these heinous crimes? There would be no acceptable excuse and likewise there is no excuse for Mexican criminals to cross the U.S. border and commit these atrocious acts. I'm so tired of hearing about people "just trying to make a better life for themselves by escaping the poverty in Mexico".

While reading this article I couldn't help thinking about trees used for lynching Blacks in the "Old South." In both cases, the victims were part of groups that were powerless and preyed upon by the supposed legitimate authorities. I don't condone illegal immigration, but there is no justification to allow the atrocities these women and girls are being subjected to. Ultimately, the answer is to improve conditions in Mexico so its people don't feel so desperate that they have to take these kinds of risks. But if these acts are happening on US soil and being perpetrated in part by US officials, this reflects poorly on this country.

No matter what the status of immigration, this matter is about women being rapped here. I read a comment here by a "border patorllean" and it made me wanna sign up to this website, just to comment back on how inhumane this individual is. We are all human beings, regardless of our genders, immigration status, and religions. How ignorant do you sound when making an inhumane comment about wanting to personally help hand build a wall to prevent this. I agree that NO ONE should enter anywhere Ilegal, but when a woman wants the best for her future child's future a mother will not stop at anything to get their child a good future. I will send my prayers to these women. And besides how do you honestly know that these are ALL illegal immigrants? They also could be dumb ass white woman trying to be stoopid and get lost...in paths their not supposse to be on anyways.....

How are women trying to illegally come into the USA suddenly the USA's problem? I don't think so. I feel it's an awful thing to happen to anyone, but this is not our problem. Here's a thought, how about trying to live legally instead of whining about what happens to you when you live as a criminal? If you cross the border illegally - you are a criminal and I no longer care what happens to you. I personally will help build a massive wall that is electrified to help this situation out.
