Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife paid a special visit to Washington DC this week. First ladies Michelle Obama and Margarita Zavala met with young children at a local elementary school while the President's held a press conference addressing the new immigration laws passed in Arizona. The activities culminated in President Barack Obama hosting a grand state dinner in Mexico's honor.

Both First Ladies are fashion icons in their own right, and last night was no exception. Mexican First Lady Margarita Zavala wowed in a plum-colored Macario Jiminez square-neck gown with a navy wrap and purple clutch. U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama was stunning in a blue shimmery Peter Soronen one-shouldered gown accented with a silver belt at the waist. Which look do you prefer?
Gilded handmade woven baskets hung from the ceilings and were filled with bouquets of roses, orchids and pear cactus.
The tables were topped with shades of blue to represent ripples of water and the china was from the Clinton and Eisenhower presidencies.
