Mexico Aims to Break World Record for Breaking World Records!

Mexico is all about breaking world records. With the recent addition of the world's biggest enchilada, Mexico has been racking up numerous Guinness records in the past two years—the country rules in everything from kissing to meat balls. Looks like they may be eyeing the record for the most world records!

1. Mexico's World Records: Cheesecake

Chef Miguel Angel Quezada with 50 other cooks created the world's largest cheesecake in Mexico City on January 25, 2009.


2. Mexico's World Records: Kissing

On Valentine's Day in 2009, thousands gathered in Mexico City's central plaza to break the world record for the largest number of people kissing at one time.

3. Mexico's World Records: Thriller Dance

Over 13,000 people gathered at the Monument of the Revolution in Mexico City on Michael Jackson's birthday (August 29) in 2009 to break the world record for the most people dancing Michael Jackson's Thriller.

4. Mexico's World Records: Meatball

Rainer Zingrebe, executive chef at Cancun's Ritz Carlton hotel, made a record-breaking 109 pound meat ball in Cancun on August 4, 2009 to help promote the animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

5. Mexico's World Records: Mariachi

During the International Mariachi Festival in Las Cabanas, Mexico on August 30, 2009, 549 musicians played several songs in just over 10 minutes to break the previous record of 520 mariachis performing.

6. Mexico's World Records: Flower Carpet

In celebration of Mexico's bicentenial, the longest carpet of flowers (over 6000 ft long and 3 ft wide) were displayed in Mexico City's Parque de Chapultepec on August 29.
