Our favorite undercover Mexicano Levi Johnston is facing yet another set of familial woes. Levi's mami, Sherry Johnston, 43, recently pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver the prescription painkiller OxyContin.
Although Sherry was convicted of a class A felony, which usually carries a sentence of five to eight years in prison, her lawyer Rex Butler indicated that the plea deal agreed to includes a shorter prison sentence followed by three years of probation.
Levi's mom only possessed a small quantity of the drug at her arrest and had no previous drug-related convictions. Assistant District
Attorney Rick Allen said it's not unusual for defendants with
mitigating factors like Johnston's to get half the minimum sentence.
Since the arrest, Sherry Johnston opened up about her addiction to the prescription painkillers, which began eight years ago after a botched hysterectomy led to seven additional surgeries.
Johnston is scheduled to be sentenced in November and will be held at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center in Eagle River, Alaska for the three months until then. Butler is hoping she can serve the rest of her sentence there, or in the best case scenario, under home arrest with an ankle monitor.
