Being that this is a bridal blog, it’s impossible not to talk about the hot topic of the week: Kim Kardashian filing for divorce after only 72 days of marriage! When I heard I was somewhat surprised, I guess, but not entirely since after watching the wedding special (yes, I tuned in, sue me) it seemed as though they didn't agree about much as far as their future was concerned.
All this talk about breaking up dredged up a ton of old memories. When I was 21 years old, I got engaged to my college boyfriend, but called it off shortly after he proposed. Needless to say, it was a tough decision for me to make, but I just knew I was too young to get married. It hurt me as well as him very much, but since it was my decision I made sure I gave him the engagement ring back. I just didn’t feel right keeping it. Looking back now, as a happily married women, I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Tons of people are speculating as to why Kim filed for divorce, with some saying the whole wedding was just a big scam to make money and boost ratings. I’m a hopeless romantic, so a small part of me wants to believe that she married for love and that her judgment was clouded and she realized her mistake when it was too late.
What do you think? Should she give back the ring? Should she donate the presents from the wedding to charity like she said she intended on doing? Do you think the whole thing is a scam and hurts the sanctity of marriage?
