Our Modern Latina Bride Heads to the Dominican Republic!

Last weekend I was super excited to go to a destination wedding in Paradisus Punta Cana resort in the Dominican Republic. For one, I haven’t been away in about a year and was desperate for a tanned glow. More importantly, I was excited to see one of my BFFs get married. The plan was perfect, the ceremony was set to begin in an altar close to the ocean and after the ceremony all 85 of the closest people to the bride and groom would head to another part of the beach where tables, hanging lights, a bar, and a dance floor would be set up to party the night away. Except that the day of the wedding there was nonstop rain, so, while Nercys was upset, she had to make the decision to go with plan B.

Let me tell you, I’m not sure how plan A would have turned out, but plan B, which was an indoor ceremony and a semi-indoor and outdoor reception, was AMAZING! The ceremony was so romantic as they each read their own vows in both English for his family and in Spanish for her family and the reception was the perfect setting with Chinese lanterns filling the room and literally non-stop dancing. After this wedding, it reminded me that everything happens for a reason. Just like the rain was a blessing in disguise, me having to change my wedding date was also supposed to happen and now our wedding will be as perfect as Nercys’ wedding was.
