It can’t have been easy to get married young; Vanessa was 18 when she wed 22-year-old Kobe. Still, the young couple made it through the constant and harsh glare that is Hollywood fame. Call it what you want, but it was obvious Vanessa was a young woman head over heels in love.
Who can forget the infamous scandal Kobe was involved in after he was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in a Colorado mountain resort? Whether you agreed with her or not, Vanessa stood by her man’s side during the proceedings.
Even though she filed for divorce in December 2011, Vanessa was often spotted at Kobe’s games that following year with their two girls – even kissing the basketball player before he made his way to the locker room after a game on Valentine’s Day. So let’s be real… can we really call it a split?
Through The Storm
Word on the street has been that Kobe is no saint – and that Vanessa knows it. Whether you agree with her or not, Vanessa stood by Kobe's side through multiple rumor currents.
The Image of Hope
As famous couples sometimes do, they surprise you. “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. Love is something fierce, isn’t it?
Their plans to divorce didn't stop Vanessa from attending the London Olympics last summer to spent time with and support Kobe in his games. Both were spotted with daughters Natalia and Gianna as they cheered on swim champ Michael Phelps in the final swimming race.
Vanessa has been to many of Kobe’s games with their two beautiful daughters – including (of course) his championship ones.
Kobe severely sprained his left ankle in the closing seconds of a game against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. John Black, spokesman for the Lakers, said the sprain put the basketball player out “indefinitely.” We’re sure this is a huge blow for Kobe, who reportedly complained that he has to wait a year “to get revenge.” But, of course, we know that Vanessa will be there to support Kobe, as she has throughout his years on the court.
Perhaps the greatest reason why Vanessa has stood beside Kobe all these years is for the sake of their two gorgeous girls, Natalia and Gianna? He will always be the father of her children.
