Walt Disney World’s “Monstrous” lineup includes entertainment enhancements celebrating the June 21 release of “Monsters University.” Mike and Sulley are dropping in from MU to scare up surprises all summer long. On the Backlot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, check out the Monsters University Student Union, complete with a view of the campus. Over at Magic Kingdom, the gang at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor have been studying new jokes and are ready to graduate to new comedy bits in honor of their alma mater.

Where Latin American Countries Stand on LGBT Rights

Puerto Rico governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla signed a gay rights bill this week that would ban employment discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation. The elected official reportedly said that he met his obligations as a Christian by signing the bill. In a tweet, the governor wrote in Spanish: “The dignity of being a human being is inviolable because we are all the same and we must be equal under the law.”

According to the Associated Press, the original measure of the bill would have also banned discrimination in everything from commercial transactions to property rentals, but those clauses were removed after some religious groups voiced against them. Garcia Padilla also signed a bill that adds sexual orientation and gender identity to Puerto Rico’s domestic violence laws.

Study Says Immigrants Put Billions Into Medicare

When the topic of immigration reform and health care comes up, immigrants are oftentimes expected to be a drain on federal programs. But a new study published Wednesday in the journal Health Affairs is debunking that myth.

Conducted by Harvard University, the study revealed immigrants contributed $115 billion more to Medicare than they drew out between 2002 and 2009.
