How do you feel that you influence the Latino community with your work?
It would mean a lot to me to be able to inspire other Latina women to follow their dreams and to know that with dedication, determination and a positive spirit they can achieve their dreams. I’d also like to encourage the Latino community to never stop learning – whether going the academic route or learning by doing – always strive for the best through knowledge and experience.
It would also be great to be able to inspire the Latino community to give back to our community by volunteering. You can make a difference even through volunteering for just one afternoon.
Mentorship is a great way to give back. I am hoping to be able to mentor more young women in the future. I am currently mentoring an audio engineering student from Mexico City. She wants to get a start in the music industry and I am trying to support her as much as possible.
What gives you the most pride about being Latina?
Seeing all of the great achievements that have been made by Latinos in history up until the present day across all arenas - science, the arts, philanthropy, sport, government and big business. It inspires me everyday. Our influence is far reaching.
