How do you feel that you impact the Latino community with your work?
Being Latina, I not only identify with the culture but I understand it, and because of that I’m able to make more insightful recommendations based on their needs. I also have an immense passion to help the Latino community. I’m a member of a few professional organizations and do a lot of volunteer work with several nonprofits that help the Latino community.
You are involved with HELPS International, and other nonprofit organizations. Tell why giving back to the community is important to you?
Giving back to the community is important to me because I feel so blessed. There is also a need for more Latina role models and being involved allows me to show the younger generations that you can be a successful Latina while taking care of a family. I always advise that hard work, discipline and a passion for your purpose is the key to success.
Since you are a financial expert, what advice do you have to Latinas as far as income planning and budget goes?
Remember to live within your means and don’t spend more than you make. If you budget, you can be credit card debt free and be able to invest that money in ways that will help you reach your goals. Also, don’t be afraid to seek the help from a professional who can guide you to achieve your financial goals. The more Latin women understand how to handle their finances the more empowered they become.
