Scented Candles for a Good Cause

"It smells like soap... it is way too strong... it's too masculine; no, too feminine..." These were the initial responses from co-workers as I passed around the new scented candle from Nest Fragrances. But something about the powerfully fragrant Blue Garden Candle ($32, neimanmarcus.com) wouldn't let me part with it. I'm a big fan of scented candles and know that unique and truly memorable ones are difficult to find. So, I decided to take this one home to lift the energy of my apartment in preparation for an evening dinner party I planned one evening. At that point it hit me: The Blue Garden Candle was simply...perfect.
The blend of blue hydrangea, hyacinth and forget-me-nots filled my space with a flower garden fragrance. I sat the unlit candle near the entry door and enjoyed the compliments of visiting friends—male and female—who admired its potency. Better suited for an open space than a smaller one like your office, the sweet scent is neither too heavy nor light, and would make a great housewarming gift for su amigos.
An extra spark: A portion of the proceeds from sales of the Blue Garden Candle will benefit Autism Speaks.
