The Social Security Administration releases the top baby names given to children born every year, and this year's list is out! In 2012, the top baby names were Sophia and Jacob. Not particularly surprising, as Sophia has been the most popular name for girls for the past two years, while Jacob has reigned supreme since 1999. No kidding.

Disney tried to trademark Dia de los Muertos. Yes, the Mexican holiday. We wish we were kidding, but the mass media corporation had actually placed a trademark request earlier this month to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Disney’s reasoning? According to a story by Fox News Latino, the company sought to trademark “Dia de los Muertos” for merchandising purposes.

When I was a child and my family first came to the U.S., I remember going to McDonald’s and drinking a lot of soda constantly. Although I was always a bit on the chubby site, it wasn’t long before my weight ballooned up thanks to all of the junk food advertising I was suddenly seeing everywhere. 

I remember fighting with my mom as a teen, when she tried to get me to cut back on my soda habit. I refused. It shouldn’t have surprised me when, a couple of years later, my weight hit 200 pounds. At 5’2”, that was quite a big number.
