Hispanic Heritage begins this month (September 15 through October 15) and this month is all about celebrating our culture and sharing your pride! Part of that Latino spirit means giving back to your community and paying it forward for your cultura. Find out some ways you can get out there, help, and be proud!
Volunteer for Voto Latino: Form part of the movement! An estimated 12 million Latinos will be eligible to vote in the upcoming November election, and you can form part of the grassroots initiatives that encourages Latinos to go out and pick our next President. The Voto Latino website makes it pretty easy to register, so sign-up, and go! Pa’lante!
Do Something!: We were always taught that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself! No matter what social issues you are passionate about, you can find a campaign to support near you. Visit dosomething.org and browse their ‘discover’ section to get started. You also choose the level of commitment and how you want to pay it forward.
Feed Your Soul: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 47 million people were in poverty and limited to food resources in 2010. Research a local food bank or soup kitchen and help fight food poverty in your area. In most cases, you can help by donating food, money, or your time. Now that’s something to savor.

Shop for a Cause: Let’s face it; you are going to shop on new t-shirts anyway, so why not buy one that does the good work for you? William Valderrama makes it easy for you with ThisShirtHelps.com. You pick the look you like, pick a cause (including disaster relief or green efforts), and they will send the profits to the organization of your choice. You’ll feel proud and look cute too!
