You've certainly heard about ACORN, but have you been keeping tabs on the voter suppression techniques that are being exploited to keep Latinos out of the booths? A perfect example of this can be found in New Mexico, a state that is approximately 40% Latino, giving it the honor of being the most "Latin" state of the union. Among those 1 million Latino residents, almost 70% will be supporting Barack Obama come Nov. 4th. This may be scaring some Republican operatives in the state who have launched a campaign of voter intimidation.

Lola_article300.JPG

The visions came in fragments, drifting in during the steel gray intervals of relative calm, between gusts of tears and sorrow. I saw dogs. Dogs in confinement, to be precise; abandoned, with desolate eyes staring from cold cages. Chasing Papi star Eduardo Verastegui used to make us weak in the knees, but lately he' s just making us sick to our stomachs. The self-proclaimed conservative Catholic is not only voting for John McCain next month (his perogative, and we respect that), but he's also making a public statement against gay marriage by campaigning in favor of California's Proposition 8, which bans civil unions for homosexuals.
