1) Wake up a tad bit earlier than usual and make a list of five things you are grateful for. This can even lower cortisol levels in the body, which is the hormone produced during stress that contributes to a lowered immune system. Expressing gratitude for the simple things will remind you of how good life is.

2) Another effective tool for people to access during those critical moments is tea. Sip slowly on a caffeine-free tea that has a soothing, “warm your heart” kind of effect. Reach for flavors like Egyptian Licorice, Chamomile or Lavender.

3) Don’t forget to breathe! Sounds basic, but a few deep breaths in through the nose and out of the mouth can let go of so much. Bringing awareness to your breath makes you more present.  And don’t be shy; add an "I got this!" after that last exhale.
