Staff Health Challenge: Meet The Magic Bullet

I'm not a sucker for appliances, especially those seen on TV that claim to do everything in seconds (I live in Manhattan, which means my kitchen is teeny, so I try not to clutter it with useless crap). But this is something I just had to get because it sounded like the coolest thing since the George Forman grill—and it is! The Magic Bullet ($50) is a mini-blender that makes everything from yummy breakfast smoothies (like strawberry banana, my fave) to hummus, both healthy foods that make my health challenge easier and more enjoyable.

The secret to the effectiveness of the Magic Bullet is the unique bullet shape of the cups, of which there are two. The short cup is ideal for making things like dips, and the tall cup is more like a personal smoothie machine—it pulverizes the ice and gives you a perfect, nutritious smoothie or meal replacement drink in seconds. Plus, each container is microwave-, freezer- and dishwasher-safe. The Magic Bullet also comes with two blades: a cross blade for chopping, grating and blending foods such as onions, cheeses, meats and frozen drinks, and a flat blade for whipping cream and grinding hard foods like coffee beans and spices. Both blades are made of stainless steel, so they can be put in the dishwasher and never need sharpening.

The best part is it comes with a 10 Second Recipes book!
