Staff Health Challenge: Here Comes the (Ripped) Bride

Holy moly, I'm getting hitched! My boyfriend of almost a decade (yup, you read that right, 10 whole years) recently proposed. I may have been motivated before, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING compares to how serious I am about getting my butt into shape now!

The thing is, I have been slacking. I had so much energy and determination at the beginning of this challenge and was making such an effort to work out on a regular basis and watch what I eat. I can honestly say that the whole way I look at food and what it does to my body has changed through this experience, but the working out...um, not happening so much for the last few weeks.

We just got back from a vacation in Lake Tahoe where we broke the good news to our best friends and spent a ton of time doing outdoor activities. It reminded me of how freaking amazing it feels to exercise. It also made me sad to realize how easy it is for me to slip back into old habits. Now, I have a renewed sense of determination.

Plus, I have an awesome exercising partner in crime who has found a new system that we are both pretty excited about: the P90X! I saw an infomercial and was totally hooked by all of the testimonials of brides-to-be. What I liked most about it was how strong all of the women looked, while still appearing super-feminine. Have you heard of it? Have any of you used it?

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
