Staff Health Challenge: The Buddy System

Not surprisingly, I am already having issues motivating my butt out of bed, or from work, or from Happy Hour, to go to the gym. I say I am not surprised because my willpower is pretty much non-existent. I can't lie;
if there's a party, or my friends want to hang out, or a new movie has just opened, I want to be there. Not slaving away in a gym, by myself, getting all sweaty and fit.

What did surprise me was my boyfriend's willingness to jump into this challenge with me. And boy has he committed! I can honestly say that there have been more than a few times that I would have most definitely been more content to go home than head to the gym, and there he was on the phone, asking me when I was going to meet him.

Phoenix Carnevale (our fitness expert) had suggested a Buddy System to me, but I wasn't really sure it was going to work. Well, it does. Every. Time. I feel so guilty even thinking about leaving him high and dry that I drag myself to meet him no matter what. He always reminds me that there is enough time in the day for everything I want to do. I'd definitely suggest finding a partner in crime if you need a little more motivation to keep it moving!

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
