Childhood Obesity Rates Finally Declining

For the first time in a long time, the childhood obesity rate among U.S. children is declining. According to Fox News Latino, health officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced this week that there were at least small drops in obesity for low-income preschoolers in 19 states.

Places such as Philadelphia, New York City and Mississippi have reported improvements in the last few years – a sharp contrast to the childhood obesity rates being on the rise for decades.

CDC director Dr. Thomas Frieden said that “now, for the first time, we're seeing a significant decrease in childhood obesity" on a national scale.
