The Social Security Administration releases the top baby names given to children born every year, and this year's list is out! In 2012, the top baby names were Sophia and Jacob. Not particularly surprising, as Sophia has been the most popular name for girls for the past two years, while Jacob has reigned supreme since 1999. No kidding.

Is it okay that I have a bummy day? Is it okay that I admit my back hurts, I really miss eating sushi, and I don’t like that my dimples have moved from my face to my butt? Is it okay that the next person to tell me that I look like I’m about to ‘pop’ should watch out because I might have to ‘pop’ them in the face? Is it okay that when my husband tells me I look beautiful, I cry and tell him he’s lying?

My mom, a lady who gave birth to five kids and knows a thing or two about pregnancy, once told me that she loved being pregnant. I could certainly understand her love for her unborn children but loving being pregnant?
I didn’t buy it.
“Mom, you looooooved being pregnant?” which was less of a question and more of an accusation that she was obviously lying to me. Really?? Gaining weight, stretch marks, waddling, aches, pains — the very look of pregnancy seemed uncomfortable to me.

Baby Bean arrives in just a few months and as a first time momma, I’ve got a lot of questions. Luckily, I have a vast support group that I can turn to when I need advice. How many bottles do I need to buy? What kind of stroller should I get? Do I need a bassinet or just a crib?

I love that we live in a melting pot of cultures; white, black, brown, orange (I live in LA, so I’ve seen ‘orange’ people) — so many different kinds of people and we can’t wait to expose Baby Bean to all of it. Well this is adorable! Target, yes the store you go to for towels and end up leaving with a potted plant and slip-n-slide, has launched a new baby ad campaign. With the tagline "The Adventure Begins Here," the ad features real familes and encourages celebrating those everyday parenting adventures -- from a successful swaddle to a splashy bath time.
Set to the lullaby "Clap Your Hands," sung by 16-year-old Paulina Cerrilla from Season 3 of The Voice, the ad is the first of its kind for target, as it's bilingual! The song features both English and Spanish lyrics.

I like to think of myself as a smart girl. I did well in high school and then went on to receive academic scholarships to attend the University of Southern California, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sure, my career consists of being on top of Justin Bieber’s latest mishaps and Taylor Swift’s newest boy-toy conquests, but I insist on balancing out the fluff by keeping up to date on world issues and current events.
