DAY 10: Entertaining

Don’t just host a holiday soiree, throw one for the books! Give ‘em something to talk, and tweet, about.

Follow this checklist.

✓  Nail the tunes. Not every song has to be a holiday classic, but your playlist sets the tone. Consider whether you want the environment to supercool and vibey or a full-on dance party. You can also build the playlist by starting with more mellow music then mixing in more high-energy tracks.

✓  Serve up awesome apps. And not from your iphone. Cause everyone knows finger food is a party pleaser! The trend now is for menus with assorted apps and sweets only.

✓  Rethink the drink. Create custom signature cocktails and give them fabulous names. Maybe this year it’s Mistletoe Margaritas or Comet and Cupid Kamikazes.

✓  Mix and match. If it’s a sit-down, create a seating arrangement that shuffles up the group. Your techie friend and your fashion designer friend who think they have nothing in common may end up besties. Or you may spark a romance. Either way, keep things interesting.

✓  Crack the code. Suggest special attire for your guests. Make the dress code unique and memorable. Try themes like Winter White, Holiday Chic or Sequins Optional. Getting dressed for your festive fiesta will end up being half the fun!

“Going to your tia's house for a holiday party? Your favorite picture together in a pretty frame will make a fabulous hostess gift. Sentimental gifts are always the most memorable.” – Cindy Diaz
