Komen Agrees to Continue Funding Planned Parenthood And Supporting Latinas

Despite recent reports that the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation would cut funding and preventive care for the non-profit family-planning organization Planned Parenthood, the foundation has decided to reverse its decision. “We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities," said the group.

18 Million Latinos Chose “Other Race” On Census

It became more apparent when evaluating the 2010 Census that Americans are diversifying their views of race. One in 14, or 21.7 million of the United States Census takers chose to write in their own response when it came to when identifying their race. Terms such as “Arab,” “Mexican,” “Haitian,” and “multiracial” were frequent responses according to NBC Latino.

Mitt Romney’s recent success in Florida sends him off to Minnesota and Nevada campaigns with an extra step of confidence. Florida’s bitter primary ended with Romney carrying 46% of the vote leaving opponents Newt Gingrich with 32%, Rick Santorum with 13% and 7% for Ron Paul according to the Florida Department of State. This Romney win has revealed him the front-runner in the fight to become the Republican Presidential candidate.

Mercedes Ramirez Johnson survived most people’s worst fear – a plane crash. On her 21^st birthday in 1995, Johnson boarded a flight with her parents from Miami to Cali, Colombia. Tragically, the plane crashed in the Andes Mountains and only four people survived. Johnson lost her parents and suffered serious injuries from the accident. Despite all of the challenges she faced, the mother of four boys finished college and transformed her terrible experience into a hopeful story.
