WATCH: Daniel Hernandez Receives Standing Ovation at Tucson Memorial Service

At the memorial last night for the shooting victims and survivors of the horrific shooting in Tucson, the intern credited with saving the life of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Daniel Hernandez, earned a standing ovation for his passionate speech. Telling the crowd that he must "humbly reject the title of hero," a clearly overwhelmed and emotional Hernandez gave a short but touching speech about reserving that title for public servants and those who have dedicated their lives to helping others.

Seated right next to President Obama, Hernandez was enthusiastically cheered by the almost thirty thousand people gathered for the memorial service at the University of Arizona every time his name was mentioned. Obama directly acknowledged Hernandez's extraordinary actions in his speech to the nation last night as well. "We are grateful for Daniel Hernandez, a volunteer in Gabby’s office who ran through the chaos to minister to his boss, tending to her wounds to keep her alive," declared the president.
