Mexican Teen on Hunger Strike for Invite to Royal Wedding

Estibalis Chavez is one determined 19-year-old. The Mexican teenager has been camped out in front of the British embassy in the capital city to push the Royal family into issuing her an invite to the impending nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton for almost two weeks!

Chavez set up a tent in front of the embassy on February 10th and wants to attend the royal wedding because she and her mother have a shared love of Princess Diana and the British Royal family. "My mom was a fan of Princess D," Chavez told CNN en Espanol, referring to William's mother, the late Princess Diana. "She died before I was born. I am a fan of her, too. So I promised myself I would make it to go to the wedding."

The British embassy has already indicated that it has no power to get her an invitation, but Chavez refuses to budge, spending her days painting the engaged couple.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
