Marc Anthony & J. Lo Take Over Capitol Hill

Even jaded senators and supreme court justices get excited when Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony come into town! The superstar duo hit Washington D.C. last night to celebrate Marc's receipt of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Congressional Hispanic Institute's 32nd Annual Gala held at the Walter E. Washington Convention center.

Also on hand to fête the salsero was none other than the president of the United States, Barack Obama. The president even had some jokes for Marc, telling him, "Nydia has a crush on you!" in reference to Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-NY) who is the Institute's chairwoman.

During his speech the president also addressed more serious matters, promising the crowd action on immigration without giving a specific timeline and reserving a special shout out for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who was seated with the Lopez-Anthony clan. "Our own royalty, somebody who we have become so extraordinarily proud of, somebody who I've just come to adore, and somebody who's going to make us proud for many, many years to come—because she's not term-limited—the newest justice of the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor," Obama exclaimed, to a standing ovation. Obama went on to say that the proudest moment of his presidency thus far has been when Sotomayor took the bench.

It wasn't all fun and games for Marc and Jennifer either. Earlier in the day, Anthony and Lopez hit Capitol Hill with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to discuss education for Latino youth and college affordability. Afterward, the couple stopped by the Oval Office and brought 1-year-old twins Max and Emme to meet the president and First Lady Michelle Obama, "Max was tearing up the White House," Anthony told the Washington Post with a laugh.
