In late March, Latina & Maybelline New York hosted a special awards breakfast in New York City to honor the five lucky winners of the Maybelline New York "Opportunities Through Education" Scholarship.

Maybelline New York flew the five winners to the Big Apple to attend the scholarship breakfast, where they were greeted by Latina Editor-In-Chief Mimi Valdés Ryan.

Natalie Morales, the National Correspondent on NBC's The TODAY Show served as the keynote speaker at the breakfast. Morales spoke about her work experiences and urged the winners to follow their dreams, no matter what obstacles they face.

Scholarship winner Eliza Catalino, who grew up in the Bronx, New York and plans to attend Syracuse University in the fall, was moved to tears while delivering a heartwarming thank you speech.

In the audience: the ladies' proud parents and loved ones, who watched with pride as the winners gave their moving thank-you speeches.

Scholarship winner Jeanette Rojas of Loveland, Colorado had the opportunity to walk the red carpet with Natalie Morales, Latina's Mimi Valdés Ryan and Maybelline New York's Natalie Green.  Jeanette's winning essay highlighted her passion for folkloric dance.

Scholarship winner Maricruz Rodriguez of Artesia, California gives her thank you remarks. Maricruz dreams of becoming a U.S Congresswoman one day.

Scholarship winner Devon Buddan of Gardena, California mingles with Latina's Lifestyle Editor Kenrya Rankin.  Inspired by her mother's battle with a life-threatening condition, Devon plans to become a physician.

At the end of the breakfast, the five exceptional young ladies receive a standing ovation from the audience.
